    Christmas movies
it’s a wonderful life – because jimmy stewart and donna reed may be my favorite screen couple in the history of all screen couples.

love actually - because I love colin and hugh in bridget jones too. but in this, they just make me melt into a puddle of christmas egg nog. colin trying to speak portuguese. oh dear me.

little women - because I love jo and beth. I am ambivalent towards meg. and I want to punch amy in the face.

home alone - four words: “buzz, your girlfriend. woof.”

a charlie brown christmas - because let’s be real, if the movie was completely awful, I would still love it for the music alone. (but the movie is just the best too.)

meet me in st. louis – because judy garland.

joyeux noël – because this true story from world war I restores my faith in humanity. (and redeems the existence of bad santa.) plus the singing is beautiful and amazing and makes me cry. every time.

while you were sleeping – because aside from the whole fake fiancé in a coma thing, I’m pretty sure this is one of the most romantic movies ever made. bill pullman. who knew he could be such a fox? a clumsy, nerdy, messy fox.

I love sharing! I’m running a GIVEAWAY through the end of this week and if you win, I’ll send you one of the titles listed above. (it’s my all-time favorite!) to enter just leave a comment below and let me know what your favorite Christmas movie is!

    1. Umm… what a wonderful idea! I would love to win one of those! Our favorites in this house are definitely “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas,” with “Miracle on 34th Street” coming in close behind. :-)

Love those, at least the ones I’ve seen! Really like Elf too!

    3. Ina Vollmann says:

Meet me in St Louis! <3
      ;) ;) ;)

    4. Adrienne Hagen says:

I missss you! I love many of your movies listed, especially Love Actually, but here are two of my other favorites: Santa Claus (with Tim Allen) and The Family Stone. Santa Claus is more of a sentimental one too because I was sick one winter and had to stay home from school and when my dad came back from work he had bought it for me to watch.

    5. Christina says:

Ha. I too am ambivalent towards meg and want to punch amy in the face (that damn clothespin on her nose). Favorite quote of the movie? “Jo! Your one beauty!” (Amy’s snotty remark when Jo cuts off her hair) and oh so many others. Oh, my favorite Christmas movie? Little Women, of course.

Little Women date when you get back from WI! With popcorn and hot chocolate. I promise not to burn off your hair whilst trying to curl it :)

    6. Tony Sunzeri says:

Die Hard is bedt Christmas movie of all time.
It even has multiple Christmas songs playing throughout.

    7. joyce says:

Have to go with “A Christmas Story”. Curious that my 1950s childhood reality is now “retro”. Who can forget how Darren McGavin’s indecipherable cursing is at the same time crystal clear. I mean we know EXACTLY what he’s saying even though we can’t make out one single word. Love it.

    8. Stacey says:

White Christmas, the 1954 version with Bing Crosby. Classic!

    9. Kimberly says:

White Christmas! I remember one year, before videos and dvds, the networks were only playing it in the early morning hours so I set my alarm for 3am and got up to watch it. This year though, I’ve been wanting to see Holiday Inn. I need to check Amazon Prime to see if they have it.

    10. Beth Mathews says:

I can’t even think straight when the title “While You Were Sleeping” is mentioned. 1. Joey Jr. 2. The lean 3. Bill Pullman

      • carriehorton says:

Beth Mathews, I just love getting further confirmation that we were destined to be friends. If Bill Pullman (*as Jack*) enacted the lean on me, I would surely never recover.
